How Daffy Voice works

Daffy Voice is built from a few simple pieces. Once you know what each one does, the rest of the dashboard makes sense.

The building blocks

  • AI employees — the voice on the phone. Each has a name, a voice, a script (what it should say and do) and a greeting. You can talk to one in your browser before any customer hears it.
  • Knowledge base — documents your AI employees answer from, such as a price list or FAQ. You upload a document once and link it to the AI employees that need it.
  • Phone numbers — a Twilio or Plivo number, or a number on your own carrier connected over a SIP trunk. A number is answered by the AI employee you attach to it.
  • Campaigns — call everyone on a contact list, inside the calling hours you choose, with retries for people who don't pick up.
  • Workflows — the whole calling job as steps: where the contacts come from, which AI employee calls them, and what happens after each call (callbacks, transfers, results sent to your tools).

What happens on a call

When a call connects, the AI employee says its greeting, then follows its script. It listens, answers from its knowledge base, and can use the actions you have switched on — for example transferring the caller to your team. When the call ends, Daffy Voice saves the recording, the transcript and the outcome in Call Logs.

Who does the setup

You can set everything up by hand in the dashboard, or ask Daffy, the built-in assistant. Tell Daffy the job in plain words — for example “remind customers about their EMI and note when they promise to pay” — and it drafts the AI employee and the workflow for you to review. Developers can also manage AI employees, phone numbers, campaigns and workflows over the REST API.
